Police Arrest 251 Illegal Miners In Zamfara » Gisthour
The Zamfara State Police Command says it has arrested 251 alleged unlawful miners, amongst them a Burkinabe, throughout a Sallah eve raid on the mining websites within the state.
The Police Commissioner, Usman Nagogo, paraded the arrested individuals on the command headquarters on Friday in Gusau, the state capital.
Mr Nagogo recalled the arrest of some Chinese nationals and their Nigerian collaborator on April 20.
The arrests adopted an identical order by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chief of Army Staff to safety brokers to go after the culprits.
He stated on May 21 the Brigade Commander, 1 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Gusau, Bello Musliyu, a brigadier basic, led a crew of safety operatives to raid the mining websites in Kawaye, Zugu, Dan Kamfani and Bagega.
The police commissioner stated the safety operatives had been drawn from the military, the police and the Directorate of Security Services (DSS).
He stated the operatives additionally raided Dareta and Daki-Takwas mining websites in Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr Nagogo stated 12 water pumping machines, 29 bikes, chemical substances for gold and unrefined gold sifting supplies had been recovered on the raided unlawful mining websites.
He warned these engaged within the mining to desist from the unwholesome act because the raid of mining websites can be a continuing train till unlawful mining actions within the state had been delivered to a halt.
“Anybody who goes against the norms will be arrested and severely dealt with according to the law of the land,” he warned.
